Why a GoWild! Flight Costs About $15 and Not 1 Cent

The pass fare on a GoWild! flight is one cent. The total you see at checkout is higher because government charges still apply to every ticket.

A typical domestic flight

  • Base fare: $0.01
  • September 11th Security Fee: $5.60
  • Passenger Facility Charge: $4.50
  • Domestic segment tax: $5.00
  • Total: about $15.11

Those are the figures we use in our guide. Exact taxes can vary by airport and route, and international flights cost more, often well above $15, so check the total at checkout.

What the pass doesn't cover

  • Bags and seat selection are extra unless you add them.
  • Blackout dates aren't included at the pass price.
  • Seats are limited, so availability decides the trip, not the price.

Is it worth it?

That depends on how often you'll fly. The more flights you take, the lower your cost per flight falls. Our calculator works out the break-even for how many trips you expect to take.
