A GoWild! day trip is a morning flight out and an evening flight home, booked as two separate one-way reservations. Each leg costs the $0.01 fare plus government taxes, about $15 on most domestic flights, so the whole trip can come in around $30.
What makes a good day trip
- A nonstop in both directions, so a single delay doesn't cost you the day.
- At least three hours on the ground. Anything shorter and you spend the trip going through airports.
- A destination close enough that your flight time is short, leaving more of the day to enjoy it.
The part people forget: the return
The outbound is easy to book. The risk is the way back. If the evening flight sells out, you're stuck at the destination. Check the return before you commit, and book both legs in the same session once you're sure.
That's why we added a Way back button to flights with open seats. It checks the reverse route for the following days so you can see which return days have seats before you book.
Before you go
- Confirm neither date is a blackout date.
- Pack light. Day-trip fares don't include a checked bag.
- Know your fallback. If your return fails, have a backup plan and a budget for it.
